FiberHome optical transceivers

FiberHome's AN5516 OLT platform appears in a number of African national fibre rollouts, and the optics behind it — ORTH-coded SFP and SFP+ parts, plus GPON and 10G-EPON OLT-class modules — are a recurring request from operators keeping those networks supplied. We source the transceiver range alongside the AN5516 board and ONT hardware already listed under OLT, GPON & Access.

How to read these part numbers

ORTH-prefixed part numbers are FiberHome's internal catalogue codes and, like Nokia's 3HE scheme, carry no readable spec information — match by the stated technical attributes rather than the number. OLT-class GPON and 10G-EPON SFPs are asymmetric — transmit and receive wavelengths differ (1577nm TX / 1270nm RX is typical) — so confirm you are ordering the OLT-side part and not the ONT-side equivalent, which uses the opposite wavelength pairing.

Ordering notes

Confirm OLT-side versus ONT-side for any PON-class part, since ordering the wrong end of an asymmetric link will not connect even though the module looks identical. State the AN5516 shelf and card model for platform-specific optics. Condition is stated per quotation — new, new-surplus or refurbished — and where a destination does not admit used network equipment (Algeria is the usual example) we quote new. Hardware only: software licensing remains between the buyer and the manufacturer. Destination type approval and import permits (CST/SABER, TDRA, ICASA, CA, CMC, ARPCE) are the buyer's responsibility and we will say so on the quotation.

Lifecycle and availability

FiberHome hardware is supplied new or refurbished; note FiberHome has been on the US Entity List since 2020, which does not restrict resale of its products but leads some operators and tenders to exclude the brand — tell us if that applies to your project and we will quote an alternative vendor's optics instead.

Equipment condition

New — factory-sealed, supplied through the manufacturer's authorised channel or an authorised distributor, with full manufacturer warranty.

New surplus — unused factory stock, original packaging where available, sourced from decommissioned projects or distributor inventory. Manufacturer warranty may have lapsed; CRS PLUS warranty applies.

Refurbished / tested — previously deployed equipment, cleaned, firmware-checked and functionally tested against the manufacturer's specification before shipment. CRS PLUS warranty applies.

Condition is confirmed in writing on every quotation before you commit to an order.

Warranty terms vary by item, by condition and by the supplier the equipment is sourced from. They are stated in writing on the quotation, per line item, before you commit to an order.

Where equipment is supplied new through an authorised channel, the manufacturer's warranty applies and is passed to you.

Frequently asked questions

GPON is asymmetric — the OLT transmits on one wavelength and receives on another, and the ONT is the mirror image. An OLT-class SFP will not work correctly in an ONT-facing port and vice versa, so we always confirm which end of the link you are ordering for.
