This is one of the largest categories in the catalogue, and the one where sourcing is hardest. Optical transport platforms have long service lives and short commercial ones — an SDH network installed in 2008 is frequently still carrying traffic while the manufacturer that built it has been acquired twice and the platform withdrawn. The result is that transport spares are a genuine supply problem rather than a price negotiation.
