Nortel Optera optical transport cards and legacy interface modules

Nortel Networks filed for bankruptcy protection in January 2009 and sold its businesses off in a series of asset sales through 2009-2010; its optical networking and Carrier Ethernet business was acquired by Ciena. Every Nortel-branded item we carry today is long-discontinued legacy hardware, kept alive by operators still running Optera Metro and Optera long-haul DWDM equipment that predates Nortel's exit. The rows we carry span Optical Channel Manager (OCM) hardware for the Optera long-haul platform, sub-rate mux, Gigabit Ethernet interface cards and SFP optics for the Optera Metro 5100/5200 platform, and a shelf interface module.

How to read these part numbers

NT0H40BC is an Optical Channel Manager (OCM) module used on Nortel's Optera long-haul DWDM platform. The NT0H1x/NT0H2x-prefixed cards (OCI sub-rate mux, Gigabit Ethernet mux and SRM cards) and the NTTP02CD SFP belong to the Optera Metro 5100/5200 platform, a metro DWDM/SONET system. NTLX61AA is a Shelf Interface Module (SIM); confirm your exact shelf and platform generation before ordering, as SIM part numbers were used across more than one Nortel product line.

Ordering notes

Give the exact part number and, where possible, the platform and shelf generation you are supporting — Optera Metro and Optera long-haul cards are not interchangeable between platform families, and shelf interface modules in particular were used across more than one Nortel product line. All stock on this page is legacy, refurbished/used equipment (condition REF); there is no new-build alternative, as Nortel has not existed as an operating company for well over a decade. Where a destination does not admit used network equipment we will say so before quoting. Hardware only: no manufacturer software licensing or support is available for Nortel-branded equipment. Destination type approval and import permits (CST/SABER, TDRA, ICASA, CA, CMC, ARPCE) are the buyer's responsibility and we will flag this on the quotation.

Lifecycle and availability

Nortel Networks filed for bankruptcy protection (Chapter 11 in the US, CCAA in Canada) in January 2009 and ceased operating as a going concern. Its businesses were sold off piecemeal through 2009-2010; the Metro Ethernet Networks division, covering optical networking and Carrier Ethernet, was acquired by Ciena for approximately US$769 million in a deal that closed in March 2010. Nortel has not existed as an operating company since, so every item on this page is long-discontinued legacy hardware, supplied as refurbished/used (REF) secondary-market stock with no current manufacturer production, support or warranty available.

Equipment condition

New — factory-sealed, supplied through the manufacturer's authorised channel or an authorised distributor, with full manufacturer warranty.

New surplus — unused factory stock, original packaging where available, sourced from decommissioned projects or distributor inventory. Manufacturer warranty may have lapsed; CRS PLUS warranty applies.

Refurbished / tested — previously deployed equipment, cleaned, firmware-checked and functionally tested against the manufacturer's specification before shipment. CRS PLUS warranty applies.

Condition is confirmed in writing on every quotation before you commit to an order.

Warranty

Warranty terms vary by item, by condition and by the supplier the equipment is sourced from. They are stated in writing on the quotation, per line item, before you commit to an order.

Where equipment is supplied new through an authorised channel, the manufacturer's warranty applies and is passed to you.

Send us the part numbers you need and we will confirm warranty terms alongside availability, condition, lead time and price.

Frequently asked questions

No. Nortel Networks ceased operating after its 2009 bankruptcy and 2009-2010 asset sales, and has not existed as a company since. There is no manufacturer support, warranty or software licensing available — all Nortel stock is legacy, refurbished/used equipment.

Manufacturer names, product names and part numbers are the property of their respective owners and are used here for identification purposes only. CRS PLUS sources these products through its verified supplier network and is not an authorised distributor or agent for any manufacturer listed.

This catalogue is compiled from our supplier network's available inventory and from manufacturer product documentation, and is reviewed monthly. Listing does not indicate stock held by CRS PLUS — availability, condition and lead time are confirmed per enquiry. Last reviewed: 22 August 2026.
