Ericsson RBS base station cabinets

Ericsson's RBS cabinets span more than two decades of mobile network build, and the generation number tells you a great deal about what a site can be upgraded to. RBS 2000 cabinets were GSM; RBS 3000 introduced WCDMA; RBS 6000 was designed as a multi-standard platform and is the generation still widely in service. The items listed here include RBS 2206, 3206, 3418, 6201 and 6601 cabinets along with subrack kits and fan assemblies. Most enquiries are either a like-for-like replacement after damage, or an operator establishing whether an existing cabinet can host newer radios before committing to a swap-out.

How to read these part numbers

The RBS number identifies the generation and form factor rather than a configuration — RBS 6601 is a compact main-remote unit, RBS 6201 a larger indoor cabinet — and the cabinet is ordered separately from the digital units, radios and power equipment that populate it. Ancillary items carry standard Ericsson prefixes: `BKV` for fan units, `NTM` for kits and sets of materials. A subrack kit is a mounting assembly, not an active unit, and is quoted separately.

Ordering notes

Tell us the technologies the site must carry and the radios and baseband you intend to fit, because the cabinet generation determines what it will accept and an RBS 3000 will not host current radio hardware. Confirm indoor or outdoor, available site power, and physical constraints — floor loading and door clearance defeat more cabinet deliveries than specification mismatches do. Cabinets are usually quoted bare; ask us for a complete bill of materials if you need a working site rather than an enclosure.

Lifecycle and availability

RBS 2000 and RBS 3000 cabinets are end-of-support and available as refurbished stock only. RBS 6000 cabinets are end-of-sale in most variants but circulate widely and remain supportable. Fan units and subrack kits for all three generations are available as spares.

Equipment condition

New — factory-sealed, supplied through the manufacturer's authorised channel or an authorised distributor, with full manufacturer warranty.

New surplus — unused factory stock, original packaging where available, sourced from decommissioned projects or distributor inventory. Manufacturer warranty may have lapsed; CRS PLUS warranty applies.

Refurbished / tested — previously deployed equipment, cleaned, firmware-checked and functionally tested against the manufacturer's specification before shipment. CRS PLUS warranty applies.

Condition is confirmed in writing on every quotation before you commit to an order.

Where equipment is supplied new through an authorised channel, the manufacturer's warranty applies and is passed to you.
