ZTE ZXSDR B8200 and baseband units

The ZXSDR B8200 is the baseband unit at the centre of most ZTE macro sites deployed over the last decade and a half, and like Huawei's BBU it is a chassis populated with boards rather than a sealed unit. Sourcing it is harder than the equivalent Ericsson or Huawei hardware because ZTE's international spares channel is thin, which means enquiries for a single failed board frequently turn into a search rather than an order. `ZXSDR` denotes the platform and `B` a baseband unit, so ZXSDR B8200 and B8300 are chassis of different capacity within one family. Board names follow a functional convention — `BPN` and `BPQ` are baseband processing boards, `UBPG` a later universal variant, and `PM` a power module — with the trailing digit indicating generation. Give the chassis type, the board type and generation, and the technologies and carrier count the site must support. Confirm the software release, since ZTE enforces board and release pairing. Because supply is thinner than for other vendors, tell us at enquiry stage whether a functionally equivalent later-generation board is acceptable — that flexibility often makes the difference between a quotation and a dead end, and we will not substitute without asking.

Lifecycle and availability

ZXSDR baseband hardware is end-of-sale and support outside China is limited. Treat all items here as new surplus or refurbished with CRS PLUS warranty. Export-control screening applies to items containing US-origin technology, confirmed per transaction.

Equipment condition

New — factory-sealed, supplied through the manufacturer's authorised channel or an authorised distributor, with full manufacturer warranty.

New surplus — unused factory stock, original packaging where available, sourced from decommissioned projects or distributor inventory. Manufacturer warranty may have lapsed; CRS PLUS warranty applies.

Refurbished / tested — previously deployed equipment, cleaned, firmware-checked and functionally tested against the manufacturer's specification before shipment. CRS PLUS warranty applies.
